Check Here for Updates from Pastor Mike, Susan, Suzzane, and Lila from Nicaragua
May 16 thru 23rd
Update 5 - May 25th - 7:24pm
We all made it home safely. The final few days were such a blur with all that was going on. Lila and Suzanne were able to lead man to the Lord at the schools in the final two days. Susan and I went door to door and led many individuals and families to the the Lord. The final night of the crusade saw around 5000 people show up with hundreds making professions of faith. It was a wild scene as Ronnie Hill gave away a motorcycle the last night after the preaching and altar calls were done. There were gang members there as well, many of which trusted Jesus that night. What a wild night. We rode back to the hotel after the crusade Nicaragua style. We had about 15 of us on the back of a little pickup! On Friday we had free day and we went shopping and visiting the mountains overlooking a dormant vocano. Many also went and rode the zip line down the mountain, then it was delay after delay waiting for airplanes until we got home on Sunday morning around 4am. Lila, Susan, and I made it to church. Suzanne was the only smart one amoung us as she stayed home and caught up on some much needed sleep. Be sure to click the link below to see pictures of the trip. We will be having a special service this Sunday May 31st during our 11am worship service where will share about our trip via testimony and pictures. Come see and hear how God moved mightly on this trip. In total there were 5324 professions of faith made!! Praise the Lord!
Update 4 - May 20 - 4:28pm
Hello again! The crusade last night had about 2000 people in attendance. Hundreds came forward during the invitation. Today we again had fiesta's, went to the schools and presented the Gospel. Tonight they are expected at least double the crowd of last night as the weeks builds to the close of the crusade tommorow night. We have had over 2400 professions of faith this week so far. God is certainly blessing and working here this week. I pray that many of these meant it and believed it in their heart and were truly saved. We are getting ready to each supper and then head to the crusade tonight. Everyone is doing well. Suzanne was a little sick last night, but is much better this afternoon. Lila and Susan went to a women's conference today that had nearly 200 in attendance. Susan gave her testimony and Lila really enjoyed herself there. Suzanne went with me out to street witness today. Pray that what ever made her sick last night stays gone for good. Everyone sends their loves and prayers. We prayed for Grandma BB's surgery today as well. I pray that it went well. The Lord is blessing here and we pray he is blessing there as well.
God Bless - Pastor Mike!
Update 3 - May 19 - 3:51pm
Hello again from Nicaragua. Today we have updates from each of us that we will type:
Susan writes - Where do I start? We all jump onto several buses cramped to the max and head out into the neighborhoods. All of the locations have been preplanned and a pastor from each location goes with us and we give him the names of the people who prayed to ask Jesus into their lives. It is more technologically advanced here then in Madagalpa-no rolling blackouts and we have air conditioners. This has been good for Lila and Suzanne. They are troopers and everyone loves them. One older lady said she was glad they came so she wasn't the oldest. On Monday morning over 300 people had prayed to recieve Christ, We were so tired coming back from the Crusade that we all went to bed and didn't hear numbers yet. The sun comes up around 4:30 and it gets dark at 6pm. Teens I wish you were here. Start saving your money now for next year. A 13 year old girl from Texas is here and she is doing great.
Lila writes: We arrived in bluefield on a plane that I didn't think I trusted to take me to an island. But it was a smooth ride all the way. When we got settled in Bluefield they took us by motor boat to an ilsand called El Bluff to witness t o people and give the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many were saved. God prepares the ground and we are to sow the seed. Suzanned and I are statying in the stame room together and we have air conditioning! Praise the Lord as it is hot here. The food is good and Mike and Suan are taking good care of us. They are making us rest and not wear ourselves out. It makes me so thankful of how God has blessed out rounctry and how we have so much to be thankful for!
Suzanne writes - Greetings from BlueFields. It is hard to describe how open and hungry for the Gospel these people are. The Holy Spirit is certainly in abundance and touching souls. Altogether we have a fairly large group of 40 to 50 people. We break out into smaller groups and visit various churches from various denominations. An interpreter is needed unless the church happens to be English speaking. We went by boat on Monday mornign to El Bluff a nearby island for a rally to invite those citizens over the the mainland for the crusade that evening. Think Billy Graham to picture the crusade! Ronnie Hill Minitry's picks up the tab for the cost of providing round trip boat service to that community for the crusade (water taxi). Today we went out door to door to win Souls for Jesus one on one in their houses. We also have "fiestas" were we park on a corner and invite everyone to come down for fun, games, candy, and most importantly to hear a clear Gospel presentation. In addition to our souls being fed, the same holds true for the really good meals served 3 times a day. Lila and I share a room with 2 double beds and a wonderful air conditioner that just won't quit (we hope and pray). The vehicles carrenning and speeding down the narrow roads is a sight to behold. I think the bus and taxi drivers are in rehearsal for coming to New York City as a taxi drivery. They have it down pat!! It is not for the faint hearted. Pray that in additiona for success in winning many more souls, that we will be blessed with aas safe and uneventful trip home as we had coming down. We are praying for our precious home church and want you to know how much we love you and thank you for your prayers and support.
Pastor Mike writes: Today was a fun action packed day for me. I am not sure I have a voice left. I preached 2 times in prison, once on the radio and then for two hours at a Pastors Conference. They weren't ready I don't think to have some of their beliefs rebuked, but you know me, they got it. We had about 60 professions of faith in the prision, untold over the radio, and I pray we had some pastors corrected on some false doctrine and steered back to preaching the bible and only the bible. There is so much charismatic bull here this trip. Pray that they will stop worrying about feelings and emotionalism and experiences and start focusing on Jesus Christ! I feel like a small voice shouting in the wilderness, but we are going to keep shouting!!
Update 2 - May 18 - 12:00pm
Hello again from Nicaragua. It is lunch time on Monday. Since the last update, we had church services on Sunday night. We divided into 10 groups of 4 and went to 10 different churches. I ended preaching in an Arabian Church. That was interesting to say the least. They were a quiet crowd, very traditional, very religious, very cerimonial, so those of you that know me, know how well I fit in preaching there. They don't believe in Hell, and they believe that everyone is going to heaven. When I mentioned Hell the Pastor and everyone else would just look down or look away. Suzzane gave her testimony, then I preached. Suzanne did a great job, although I don't believe they had ever heard a testimony before. They had certainly never heard preaching before. I pray that someone listened, understood, and realized that Hell is real and their good works weren't going to get them to Heaven.
This morning, we took a boat (glorified canoe) ride across the bay to another island where we witnessed door to door and where we preached in the big park. We have many more professions today, nearly 30 just in the people we talked with! Tonight kicks off the crusade and we expect several thousand to come. Most people here are so religious that it is easy to talk to them about Jesus, but they are basing everything on works and not grace. The simple message that we can be saved by grace through faith and that Whosoever belives in their heart and confesses with their mouth that God has raised Jesus from the did shall be saved is a powerful one. They understand Jesus, they understand that He was God in the flesh, but they don't understand being saved by grace through faith. They are so ready to hear that simple message!! Praise God for the way He is moving here. Please continue to pray for us and pray for our families back home. We love you all! Check back later as Suzzane and Lila will be writing something for me to post as well.
Everyone is doing fine, it is hot, but everyone is fine and hanging in there very well. Everyone sends their Love!!
God Bless,
Pastor MIke, Susan, Lila, and Susan
Update 1 - May 17 - 1:45pm
Good afternoon from Nicaragua! We are all here and safe! We arrived at the guest house in Managua last night about 9pm after a full day of travel. After Suzanne woke us at 4am on Saturday morning at our home by breaking glass and causing a comotion (story another time), we were up and traveling all day until 9am last night. We got something to eat around 9:30pm then crashed hard until 4am this morning (Sunday morning). We got up then and treveled by prop plane to the island of Bluefield. We got checked into our hotel, ate breakfast, and then split into three groups of 10 and preached in 3 different churches this morning. The Lord sure blessed as we had many professions of faith in Jesus Christ this morning. We are back at the hotel now where we do have internet service when the power is on for $2 a day. We just finished lunch and everyone is taking a much needed nap. Praise the Lord - our rooms have air condititioning!! I have never stayed at a place in Nicaragua that had air conditioning before, but it sure does feel great!!
Lila and Susan testified this morning at the church I preached at. They did a great job and the Lord worked mightly through them and the preached word this morning. Again, everyone is doing great and everyone sends their love!! We will try to update again tonight after tonights preaching. We will be dividing up and going to 10 different churches tonight as the rest of the team from other parts of the country should be arriving. We are still waiting for our main big bags of luggage to arrive. They are supposed to be here soon. We all have what we need to survive a couple of days in our small bag, but pray that the other luggage makes it as well so these poor people don't have to smell me in the same clothes later this week!!
Lila, Suzanne, Susan, and I send our love to our families, our church, and our friends. Please continue to pray that God will use us mightily this week for His Glory and Honor.
God Bless,
Pastor Mike
